12:00 p.m. | Directed Big Data Analytics and Global Health: The CHAI Proof of Concept
Presentation by Dr. Paul Domanico, senior director of research and development, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI)
CHAI is working with the BioSciences Management Initiative in Poole College and CIMS to create an infectious diseases decision model to prioritize partnerships and investments, using the CIMS methodology and directed big data analytics platforms. The BioSci Initiative engages students in the college's Jenkins MBA program in this work.

1:45 p.m. | Presentation by Steve Sides, vice president, science, technology and environmental policy, American Coatings Association, and Dr. James Kassner, CIMS regional representative, ACA Science and Technology Advisor. The presentation will offer a brief history on the events that led to launching their big data project as well as planning for future innovation research initiatives.
2:15 p.m. | Follow the Money: Using Big Data and VC Activity to Determine the Next Big Thing
Presentation by Paul Mugge, executive director of CIMS, and Jenkins MBA students in the biosciences management concentration, on research regarding the concept of applying big data tools to identify new markets, opportunities and trends among funding award announcements of national research agencies and new venture capital firms investments.

3:00 p.m. Analytic Hierarchy Process: Breaking Down Complex Strategic Questions
A presentation by Eric Fish, NC State Jenkins MBA candidate and Biosciences Management Initiative graduate assistant, and Dr. Mariann (Sam) Jelinek, CIMS Academic Fellow. They will present how CIMS is using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to break down complex strategic questions into the specific criteria needed to answer them. This technique was successfully used to build the decision model that will drive CHAI's big data analytics project. Attending Domanico's presentation prior to this session will be helpful in gaining the most from this session.
3:30 p.m. | Applying the CIMS System for Industrial Innovation in Your Organization
Presentation by Dr. Stephen Markham, professor, NC State Poole College Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Timothy Michaelis, NC State doctoral candidate in psychology, public interest concentration. The presentation focuses on research and Markham's book in progress about the CIMS System for Industrial Innovation, including how CIMS members can align this system with processes and tools at their organizations.
4:45 p.m. | Master in Global Innovatoin Management and CIMS: About the Partnership
Dr. Fred Renk, CIMS industry fellow and NC State Poole College lecturer, and Dr. Leigh Chamblin, director of the Master of Global Innovation Management program in Poole College's Jenkins Graduate School, will discuss the MGIM Spring Practica course projects that engages the graduate students with industry on big data analytics-based research.
