Let the Opportunity of a Lifetime Begin!

Bonjour from France! I am Paula Hagan, this year’s Masters of Global Innovation Management student representative. We call ourselves MGIMers. This program is granting me my first international experience and I plan on taking full advantage of this adventure.

So Who Am I?

In December 2009, I graduated from NC State University with my undergraduate degree in communications media and a minor in parks, recreation, and tourism. I have over 5 years of event planning experience and my dream was to become a special events planner for a public relations firm. I recently moved to Aix-en-Provence to gain both international experience and have the opportunity to work with students from all different backgrounds in culture and in industry.

This Semester in School Will Be Very Different From All Others

Since 2008, NC State University and IAE -Université Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille joined forces to form MGIM, giving students from all around the world the opportunity to share their brain power and work together to create new innovative ways to help companies be more successful in different areas of business management. This year, I will be sharing my experiences as an MGIM Student with you. I will be going through the process of learning French, working with a French company for my innovation project, touring Europe with some of the other students, and trying as many new things as possible.

Innovation = Key To Success = An Amazing Opportunity

I am most excited about the semester long innovation project. We will have the opportunity to choose to work for a cosmetic company, a digital security company, a waste management/steel company, or a gas (energy) company who are all looking to expand globally. This opportunity will require all of the students to pull from their unique backgrounds and strategize to help each company with their business management techniques. Whether that is innovation using social media or even helping design a new product, the chance to work with these companies will be a once in a lifetime opportunity that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
