Job Market Instructions

PhD Students:  Going on the Job Market this year ???

If you are a PhD student and planning on going on the job market this year, you need to do the following:

(1) Send your CV, preferred email address, link to your job market website if you have one, dissertation title and fields of interest to Valarie James ( valarie_james@ncsu.edu).

(2) Sign up for your mock interview(s).  The schedule is on the Graduate Programs Office door.  Practice helps!!

(3) Videotape your research presentation.

We have worked out an arrangement with Distance Education / DELTA to use their studio facilities and a program called MediaSite.  MediaSite will enable you to record your presentation, as well as any aides (documents / powerpoints, etc.) that you might project on a screen.

Our contact person at DELTA is Larry Evans, and he has provided the following instructions:

To schedule time in the studio, you should email or call Mr. Evans at  larry_evans@ncsu.edu, or 513-3003.  Tell him you are with the Graduate Program in Economics and that you are recording your research presentation.  The length of your presentation will determine how much time you need in the studio.  Most people schedule the studio for 2 hours at a time.   Once you have scheduled your appointment, please let Valarie James know.

Once you arrive, Mr. Evans will spend about 10 minutes orienting you to the equipment and operations.  Mr. Evans will not stay in the studio while you are recording, but he is on site and available if you need assistance.

The recording studio is located in the DELTA offices on Centennial Campus, the Venture II building, suite 500.

When you arrive on Centennial stop at the Info Booth to get a parking pass. Tell the booth guard that you have an appointment at Distance Education/DELTA. Please see parking information below. Venture II is across the street from the Venture Parking Deck.  The entrance to Distance Education- DELTA is to your right after you exit the elevator on the fifth floor of Venture II.

Do not park in the visitor spots in the Venture parking Deck. Violators will be towed.
If you experience difficulty locating a parking space in the Venture Parking Deck there is an alternate Parking Deck for students that have a valid NC State Student Parking Permit that is about a 5 minute walk from our offices. Take Varsity Drive to the end, and make a left onto Partner's Way. The parking deck entrance is on the left.
There is also a park and ride lot open to all that is located off of Oval Drive.
The closest EC lots are located on Capability Drive. It is about an eight-minute walk to our office. There is also a EC lot located off of Oval Drive.
If you are unable to find a parking spot please call immediately for assistance. 919-513-1513.
